Community Education:
Individual Development Account (IDA):
The IDA program is a savings program for low-income individuals who are saving to purchase a first home, pursue secondary education or start their own business. The IDA program includes group support, financial education and match money for monthly savings of the participants in the program for a period of 2-3 years.
Family Development Credential (FDC):
The FDC is a New York State initiative that provides front-line workers with the skills and competencies that empower families to attain a healthy self-reliance and interdependence with their communities.
To earn the credential, a participant must complete 110 hours of classroom training, develop a portfolio and pass a written exam.
Empowerment Skills for Leaders:
Empowerment Skills for Leaders is a component of the FDC developed for family support professionals, and follows the practices of the family development approach.
P.E.A.C.E., Inc. offers credentialing opportunities in both of these programs.
Working on Life:
Working on Life is a series of weekly meetings and support groups that provide support for life skills development for participants. Life skill development areas include finances, job readiness, nutrition, self-esteem, family development and more.
