Jamesville Facility Early Head Start program
SCHEDULE: Full-time, 52 weeks per year
STARTING PAY RANGE: $20.00 to $21.52 per hour based on qualifications.

Description

Connect with identified men and women, including pregnant or post-partum women, who are incarcerated at the Onondaga Correctional Facility in Jamesville, along with their infant or toddler children, on a scheduled bi-weekly basis of home and facility visits. Work with enrolled parents at the Jamesville facility to plan and develop age-appropriate early childhood education activity plans based on each child’s assessment and identified family needs.

Qualifications

College degree or certificate in Human Services, Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field, or similar formal education or training.

Experience working directly with parents and/or pregnant women and/or children under age 3 within at-risk families.

Must have knowledge and experience in child development and early childhood education, the principles of child health, safety, and nutrition, adult learning principles and family dynamics.

Must have knowledge of community resources and the skills to link families with appropriate agencies and services.

Must be skilled in communicating with and motivating people.

Must have a valid NYS driver license and have ability to travel during working hours.

Responsibilities

2. Work with enrolled parents at the Jamesville facility to plan and develop age-appropriate early childhood education activity plans based on each child's assessment and identified family needs.

3. Co-Facilitate parent education trainings for enrolled parents.

4. Facilitate transitions after discharge from facility.

5. Provide crisis intervention, counseling, and referrals as needed.

6. Complete required documentation in a timely manner.

7. Attend meetings and socialization events at the facility as scheduled.
