Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Experience in quantity food preparation, purchasing, sanitation, and food safety required, preferably in a school or other institutional setting.
• Good verbal, written and mathematical skills necessary.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assist the Food Production Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the production kitchen.
2. Prepare meals and any alternate diet meals for distribution to centers according to posted menus, using standardized recipes.
3. Assist Food Production Manager in ordering food from appropriate vendors, based on menus, recipes and food inventory.
4. Assist the Food Production Manager in supervision and evaluation of food service staff.
5. Maintain necessary food service records.
6. Ensure that deliveries are compared with orders for accuracy, completeness and quality.
7. Oversee all kitchen operations in the absence of the Food Production Manager.
8. Ensure that kitchen staff are in compliance with sanitary codes, including personal cleanliness, sanitation, food handling, storage procedures, cleaning and maintenance of kitchen equipment.
9. Follow established schedule for cleaning and sanitizing food preparation area and all utensils.
10. Plan and prepare food for special functions as requested.
11. Attend staff meetings, nutrition component meetings, and training sessions as required.
12. Perform all other duties as they relate to the mission of the food service program.
13. Maintain confidentiality of all data and information.
14. Adhere to relevant health and safety policies and procedures.
