May 29, 2013 | News and Information

On Wednesday, May 22nd, Key Bank brought Neighbors Making a Difference Day to PEACE, Inc.’s Eastside Family Resource Center. Volunteers from Key Bank spent the afternoon cleaning and rearranging the center’s basement. The center, located at 202 South Beech Street in Syracuse, provides a food pantry, crisis intervention, emergency assistance, employment support, senior lunches and activities, and much more to the local community.

Center Coordinator Shelley Dabro says, “The volunteers from Key Bank did an awesome job and I am very appreciative to all of them for giving the center their time and effort today. They were not afraid of hard work and even asked if they could return for an afternoon to do the lawn!”

As a corporation, Key Bank is committed to improving the community and generously made this volunteer opportunity possible. In addition to the clean-up event, Key Bank also helped PEACE, Inc. provide free volunteer tax preparation during tax season, contributing $8,000 over the last few years and providing 13 volunteer tax preparers.

PEACE, Inc. is Onondaga County’s Community Action Agency, and May is Community Action Month. PEACE, Inc. offers 20 different programs to more than 15,000 low-income people living in Central New York. The mission of PEACE, Inc. is helping people in the community realize their potential for becoming self-sufficient.
