Meet Shana, the Early Childhood Career Program’s newest Family Daycare in the city of Syracuse! She has seven years experience working with children in Syracuse City School District and now has opened her own NYS Registered Family Day Care.
“I hope this journey is not only for myself but I’m also helping my community by providing local, affordable daycare”
Shana’s name for her daycare, Its Ok To Be Different Daycare, has special meaning for her as her brother is autistic. “We should treat people equal, no matter their race or disability. We should all treat each other the way we want to be treated, with respect”
It’s Ok To Be Different has a reading corner full of books for children to choose from. Shana enjoys working on reading and writing skills with the children in her care.
Shana’s schedule includes Circle Time with the children every morning. Together, they set the date using the calendar, set the weather and talk about reaching their goals for the day.
Congratulations Shana, on be-coming a small business owner and providing high-quality child-care for the Syracuse community!
