MENTORING PROGRAMAS

BBBS picture
1:1 and 2:1 Mentoring (Community-Based)

Bigs (adults) spend a minimum of 6 hours a month in direct interaction/communication with their Littles pursuing everyday activities that they need or enjoy such as shopping, cooking and baking, watching a movie, visiting parks or museums, helping with homework, attending sporting events, having phone and zoom conversations and more.

2:1 mentoring involves a couple from the same household serving as Bigs to a Little. We accept applications for children between the ages of 8 and 15 who reside in Onondaga County. Littles that have been actively matched within this age range may continue with their match until aging out at 19.

Littles meet adult Bigs in a specific location twice a month under supervision of the BBBS staff. Key areas of focus include: academics and homework help, healthy snacks, arts and crafts, video and table games and small/large group activities.
Workplace Mentoring
Workplace Mentoring
Littles from a selected school (Grades 6 to 8) are transported to a specific workplace every other week during the school year. Here employees serve as the Bigs and mentoring takes place under the supervision of a Mentor Manager. Programming focuses on building the skills necessary for academic and personal success, including homework help, healthy snacks, one-to-one mentoring along with small/large group activities.
