Viola G. Chisholm Eastside Family Resource Center (FRC) provides a variety of opportunities and services, including:
Food Pantry
Monday 9:00am – 12pm
Individuals are required to provide the center with a current proof of address, photo id for everyone in the household and must live within the specified area of the center.
Diaper Pantry
Opened on Wednesday from 9:00 am-4:00pm
The Central New York Diaper Bank is a nonprofit that was created to assist social service organizations in the Syracuse area distribute diapers to families in need.
Summer Program
Monday – Thursday from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm
Provides a variety of activities from youth ages 11-15 (grades 5-8) ranging from arts and crafts, gardening for a healthier you, cooking classes, college tours, and community outings for socialization/cultural events. (More information below)
Neighborhood Advisory Council
Area residents and local merchant concerned about the community contribute ideas and suggestions often incorporated into FRC programs.
OPWDD After School Program
This program is to promote social, recreational, and personal development opportunities. We offer field trips, refreshments, transportation, and case management. This program is open to school-age children and has services from the office of people with developmental disabilities (OPWDD)
Family Support Program
Providing assistance to families by preventing domestic violence. The program allows face to face support for anyone in need.
Eastside Employment Center
NY State Department of Labor listings, resume writing through referrals, and classes designed to help customers find employment.
Fatherhood Program
- We offer direct connections to modeling; we help you form your identity, purpose and destiny without measure.
- To influence is the power to dominate or change something in an important way. Often the learning trends from our parents are acted out in how we parent.
- We can connect you to help with legal issues, with employment, housing and education.
- There are many influences that shape our perceptions, knowledge, skills, values, attitudes and behaviors but none like the role of a healthy father.

Syracuse City School District – Alternative Learning Program
The Viola G. Chrisholm Eastside Family Resource Center – PEACE, Inc. partners with the Syracuse City School District to offer students, who qualify, to attend school in an alternative community- based setting.
Students who have experienced difficulties in their home school, often need a small learning environment with access to wrap around services that support success with their home school, often need a small learning environment with success with their academics learning. SCSD teachers provide 1:1 direct instruction using a curriculum that is provided by the teachers in their home school so that there is continuity of learning and is aligned with what is being taught in their home school. The goal is for students to pass courses and earn credits toward graduation and to develop their social and academic skills.
Additionally, we offer a student navigator that works with the students and teachers to provide resources and programming, transportation and refreshments.
Senior Program
ESFRC Golden Age Social Club
Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
It’s for adults 55 years old and older.
Meals, games and activities provided
This program will be partnering with YMCA, American Heart Association, Cornell Cooperative Extension, etc.
