Kristina Collard works as a Teacher Aide at Liverpool Head Start and entered the program in November 2022 with the CDA as her career goal.
The CDA requires that candidates demonstrate their knowledge, skills and abilities working with young children as well as their commitment to career advancement and professionalism.
She received her 120 hours of CDA training from Child Care Solutions and became a proud CDA credential holder in November 2023!
Merrick Head Start facility was honored to host Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter
Merrick Head Start was recently honored to host Assemblywoman Pamela Hunter (128th District) and share the exciting work they are doing with families and youth. Assemblywoman Hunter had the opportunity to learn how the program is meeting the learning and nutritional needs of its young students while also empowering families.
“We were thrilled to welcome Assemblywoman Hunter to Merrick Head Start,” said Carolyn Brown, Executive Director of PEACE, Inc. “It was a great opportunity to showcase the important work we do and how we are making a difference in the lives of children and families in our community.”
Head Start/Early Head Start is a program of PEACE, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides a variety of educational and support services to children and families in the community. The program serves children from birth to five years old and offers a variety of services, including early childhood education, Head Start, and family support services.
We are grateful to Assemblywoman Hunter for her visit and her support for our work. We are committed to continuing to provide high-quality early childhood education and support services to the children and families in our community.
KeyBank Boosts PEACE, Inc.’s Efforts with $20,000 Donation
PEACE, Inc.’s Free Tax Prep Program just received a major boost thanks to a generous $20,000 donation from KeyBank! This vital program provides free tax preparation assistance to low- and moderate-income individuals and families in our community, helping them maximize their refunds and claim valuable tax credits.
“We are incredibly grateful for KeyBank’s support,” said Todd Goehle, Vice President of Operations and Strategy. “This donation will allow us to serve even more individuals and families in need during the upcoming tax season, ensuring they have access to the resources and assistance they need to file their taxes accurately and efficiently.”
With their generous support, PEACE, Inc. can continue to provide free tax preparation services to those who need it most.
December 2023 – Employee of the Month: Jessica Washington
Jessica Washington has been a Universal Pre-K Teacher at the Merrick Head Start site for exactly five years this week. Her attitude and approach to her students and their families has been lauded as a model for fostering a positive and engaging learning environment through creativity, dedication, and conscientious attention to every individual.
Please wish Jessica Washington a happy 5-year work anniversary at PEACE Head Start, and congratulate her for being named our final Employee of the Month in 2023!
